Commercial Lending Assistant
3

Salary: $45,000-$60,000 annually (depending on experience)
Remote: No
Job type: Full-Time
Shift and schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM with one hour lunch break

We are hiring a mid-level Legal Assistant to join our Commercial Lending Department.

You will be joining a capable team of five assistants (four others) and experienced, professional and pleasant lawyers. Given the hands-on nature of commercial lending work, this role is based in our main Abbotsford office.

This position suits someone who likes structure, pace, and accountability. If you take pride in running clean files, spotting issues early, and owning outcomes, you’ll feel at home here. If you prefer step-by-step instruction or slow-moving work, this likely isn’t the right fit. You’ll work independently, with support from a collaborative team that values competence and efficiency over micromanagement.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Managing commercial and private lending files from start to finish
  • Conducting due diligence searches
  • Reviewing and organizing loan agreements, bank instructions, title searches, and related documentation
  • Preparing mortgages and supporting security documentation
  • Corresponding directly with lenders, bankers, mortgage brokers, and other law firms
  • Electronically registering documents with the Land Title Office, BC Personal Property Registry, and Bank Act Registry
  • Preparing accurate and timely lender reporting

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience as a conveyancer, corporate assistant, or legal assistant working with commercial or private lending transactions
  • Strong organizational and file management skills with the ability to juggle competing deadlines
  • High attention to detail and a low tolerance for sloppy work
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working independently, with sound judgment about when to escalate issues
  • Proficiency with myLTSA, BC Registries and Goveyance (or similar software) is an asset
  • Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant program is an asset

How We Work

Our legal assistants are trusted professionals. You’ll be supported by a capable team of assistants and skilled lawyers, but you’ll be expected to carry your weight, manage your files, and take ownership of your work.

We value accountability, professionalism, and strong client service. The right person will take pride in doing things well and keeping files moving.

Our Values – CARES

These core values help shape our workplace culture, client relationships, and are considered in everything we do:

  • Committed: We are committed to providing growth for our team members both professionally and personally.
  • Accountable: We expect one another to take responsibility for our words, actions, and outcomes.
  • Respectful: We promote a culture of inclusivity, diversity, collaboration, and engagement, valuing each person we interact with.
  • Effective: We advance the needs and goals of our clients with efficiency, integrity, and professionalism.
